Inward Battle

The war rages on inside of you and me,
The fight for my soul to be free.
The enemy tries to turn our hearts aside,
And he in darkness will hide.

I stand here in my fleshly pride,
I think that I need not in Him confide.
For if I stand here in my pride,
And me without God would have died.

So long to all the flesh can afford,
So that Christ, my Savior can be adored.
If I gain nothing in this life,
But Christ, the peace amongst the strife.

Your Word Continues On...

Though men would try Your Word to burn,
Even when my heart is weak, I will thereafter yearn.
Though men will return to dust,
In God's Word I do put my trust.

Your Word flows in my soul,
And my life is in Your control.
For without Your guiding light,
I would not walk in paths aright.

Though kings would try to silence Your Word,
Through endless ages It will be forever heard.
Lord, speak now through me,
So that You be the only One they see.

My Life's Gain

"But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith."(Philippians 3:7-9)

All I gain, I count as loss,
In the light of my Savior's death on the cross.
Much more to gain, in Him I find,
Than to be in sin, and my eyes blind.

Give me but Christ and Him alone,
For He is the only One for who my sins can atone.
Let me the world forsake,
And the message of Christ to the world take.

Though the world turn their heart,
And I with His message to them impart.
Look not to the worldly wise,
Because in the end they will not rise.

Give me the blood of my Lord crucified,
For He is my Savior, though by some He be denied.
Though I bring few unto Heaven's shore,
I hope only to know You more.

Is It Worth It?

We all try to find worth in something, but are we looking in the wrong direction? I would say that we do look for worth in the wrong places. I want to tell you about the One that knows the soul's worth, Jesus Christ. He sacrificed all that He was worth on the cross, so that sin would not claim the souls of men. There are still men that deny their need for salvation.

Worth is not found in money or fame,
Because all these things bring you shame.
Find worth in Christ, the Savior's name,
Let not Satan and sin your life to claim.

Popularity and beauty are of all things vain,
These are times that put the heart to strain.
Find your eternal worth in the Savior's blood,
Or you will be overtaken by the flood?

When all is cast into the flame,
Will you only be left with a name?
Will you have laid up treasures of great worth?
Or will they be left behind here on earth?

Who Can Save Us?

Seeking salvation, man wants to know his end,
Wanting to know how he, his soul can mend.
What has religion brought to the souls of men?
It has lost lives and filled the lion's den.

Seeking acceptance, and yet alone,
What is it going to take to make You known?
It will take spreading Your message,
And us imprinted with Your vestige.

Seeking peace, not here on this temporal plain,
It will not be found amongst the battle strain,
The peace I found is in Christ and His blood,
Safe in Him through this world's overwhelming flood.

Seeking God, He is not dead,
Sending His Son and for me He bled.
For He sits not with closed ear,
But I know that His intentions are clear.

Finding salvation, and all in truth I find,
Knowing this in my heart and mind.
We will not end, and be blown away like dust,
But our eternal state is secure, if in Him we trust.

The God Breathed Word

Word of God breathed,
Salvation plan conceived,
Sin's burden relieved,
Prodigal son received.

The word of man it is not,
But the Word of God by Him was wrought.
Inspired by You, O, Lord,
It's worth we cannot afford.

For man alone could not this Word pen,
But God through Spirit-filled men.
I love Thy Word and all its parts,
Because through its words changed hearts.

Remembering "Amazing Grace"

I remember going with my dad on his ministry to the nearby nursing home, and his favorite hymn was "Amazing Grace" written by John Newton. Grace is defined as a generosity of spirit: a capacity to tolerate, accommodate, or forgive people. The last part of this definition is the most important part, because Christ through His sacrifice was able to accomplish the forgiveness of sins.

The words I heard my father sing,
The words until this day in my ears ring,
"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,"*
New life in Him I have found.

"I once was lost, but now am found,"*
Now with Him, I can go to higher ground.
Grace be the guidance to lead me home,
And from You may I never more roam.

Thousand years have past, and still with Your grace I am amazed,
Thousand years have gone, and still You are worthy to be praised.
The praise still continues on my lips and will never cease,
And with Your Amazing Grace, I see a daily increase.
